Makoto, sincerity

Makoto, sincerity, allows light to enter and radiate.
Training with sincerity always enables one to meet what lies deepest within oneself. It means knowing how to listen to oneself, to hear one’s needs, desires, and aspirations. It means knowing how to take care of oneself, to protect oneself, and to say “no” when necessary. Only those who know how to say a true “no” are capable of saying a true “yes.”

Sincerity allows one to connect closely and directly with one’s soul. It enables the soul to flourish, to find a beautiful balance in life, and to accomplish great things. It brings light. Furthermore, by being able to listen to oneself and care for oneself, one becomes truly capable of listening to and caring for others.
How many people lack the courage to say “no,” to make a request, to share their opinion? All those who say, “It doesn’t matter to me,” are, in reality, not genuinely connected to their needs or desires. They have abandoned themselves. Some become subjects of manipulation by close ones or acquaintances and end up like puppets.
Acting consistently with sincerity brings a beautiful balance and is admirable. However, it is challenging and is not always well received by others. Sincerity requires courage.
In Aikido, practitioners are invited to train with sincerity in every session. Gradually, as months and years go by, fears fade, and sincerity becomes a habit. Later, it integrates into one’s character. Ultimately, destiny will change.
Have the courage of your sincerity!
